I used to work with ChatGPT a lot, mainly for paralegal work, summarizing documents, pointing out grammatical / syntax errors etc. It was good for some time, leading me to a decent production increase, in any case worth the subscription fees. Not any more. Since the last few months, I can’t do anything of worth with it. Example: I give it a power of attorney with one principal and two agents. I ask it to change the document grammatically so that there are two principals and one agent, and apart from that, keep the text identical with no other changes. It CANNOT this simple task no matter what:
It makes a summary, even though nobody asked for it. It omits parts of the document. It asks me if I want a translation (?!). When it finally does what I ask, it only goes half way through and then stops. If I tell it to continue, it has forgotten what it was supposed to do. If you tell it again what to do, it asks for the original text again. If you give the original text again, it starts writing a text completely irrelevant to the original.
I cancelled my subscription because it was no longer worth it. OpenAI sent me a survey, asking me to answer some questions about why I’m quitting. Quite extensive, I must say, but the simple answer was: “this thing has become practically useless”.
Now I occasionally run the free version. I only ask for children’s stuff, no longer professionally. It occasionally fails to answer questions like if I have 15 bananas and 3 monkeys, how many bananas will each monkey eat. I would gladly pay again to see it work like it did, but no way on this earth I’m paying again unless I’m sure that it’s back to being useful
I spend days working on a code for a program, and 90% of the time is spent on me realizing that ChatGTP has forgotten the code we are working on and replaces most of my code with a jar of peanut butter. I spend most of my time, fixing everything that ChatGTP breaks, because it tells me information with so much confidence that I just blindly believe it as it completely destroys everything. It never used to be this dumb.

The product is junk. It does not work as intended. it takes more time to accomplish tasks and then completes them incorrectly. If you need to use this program for some reason, just hire a person who can do it for you.
Your post is a year old now, and this piece of something called GPT is becoming even worse. Chat GPT became the worst too ever created. It cannot copy 40 lines of Excel data properly, does not follow instructions and abuses the time. It is completely useless unless you want to write 3 lines in an email, but even then, it hallucinates. I am out, for good.

examples include what feels like a smaller context window, (chats simply do not remember what they used to), pushing project chats to the mini models when the full models are available, and just plain off inconsitency.
Last week an entire chat (desktop app) got wiped out after an A/B choice seletction. not just the question – but hours of context.
Yesterday I hit a “this conversation is too long start a new one” message for first time ever.
Yes its new tech, but its also a service. Maybe it is time to just experiment else where?
Have you heard of Microsoft New model where they have it not only predict the next word but also the previous? Is a new system they’re developing to have greater coherent multi layered processes and answers by instead of trying to predict the outcome of a query or even trying to fill in some middle layer of the answer it works both forward and backwards which gives it much greater efficiency and absolution in its response. They say that when creating a story per se it gives it a much much more coherent transition and ending to the story then the LLMs are even capable of because of their limitations in only being able to predict the next best word, this is also always working in reverse to ensure the the previous word is also the next best word. It’s pretty deep and kind of exciting
I’ve spent the past hour trying to get ChatGPT to take a simple table from a PDF and copy it into Excel. The table is straightforward it simply states that the roof age is 5 years old. However, ChatGPT repeatedly pulls in information from a previous PDF and, in one instance, even inserted a roof age based on what it assumed is typical rather than using the actual data provided. This has been extremely frustrating.
ChatGPT does nothing useful anymore expect make my terrible writing sound a little better. This is the thing that will take over the world, the thing that is materially worse than it was a year or two ago. Maybe the $40Bn they just raised will help lol
I gave up on the paid version. Something is wrong with Chat GPT. It is possible that it is somehow psychologically attacked through a zero day exploit that uses some kind of DoS,… in this case DoL (Denail of Logic).
It just makes up stuff no matter what you do. Now it is simply useless. This happens for a two months.
It repeats the same mistake over and over again, no matter how many times you refresh. On the other hand, its clone (copy), Deep Seek, solved the problem on the first try.

I provide images of two different computers and ask which one is the best, and ChatGPT tells me about summer and the weather. This is irreparable. What happened to Open AI? Is it dead?
It is dangerous, literally! We are used to trust the AI, and now we can’t trust anything, at all.
It consumes user time. Literally puts the user in an exhaustive endless and pointless loop.
Now Chat GPT most of the time ignores the input completely or partially and hallucinates no matter what you ask.
