The problem being faced is that even when asked a very simple question it gets hanged and gives the “chatgpt is unresponsive” alert in the web. Also the way the answer is being provided has changed which is why i am thinking this error is coming up, earlier as it used to write one word at a time it worked smoothly, now it just says one line and after that goes unresponsive and when it comes back it posts the entire rest of the answer at once. So the wait time for the entire asnwer(especially the crux) is too long. Also if i have a prompt just sent and chatgpt is working to give me the solution, it will hang if i even try to type anything in the chat to write the follow up prompt during this time period. It goes unresponsive countless number of times.

I have a similar issue despite having a Plus Subscription. It also takes a lot of time to respond, showing the page unresponsive prompt repeatedly.
we have end of august and the unresponsiveness is still an issue? thinking about unsubscribing.
that laggy UI is atrocious ! combined with the “thinking for a better answer… 20sec later.. takes 30-50 sec to manifest the answer in the chat.. while the tab in unresponsive” that are those devs thinking?
I am experiencing this as well. It’s basically unusable. I have to have the same conversation open in 2 tabs and then when one goes unresponsive, I can refresh the other tab to access the conversation long before the other tab becomes ‘responsive’ again.

My workaround is to duplicate the tab when I see the reponse generated and close the original tab. In case your not seeing the new response, just refresh it.
I have been noticing this quite a bit in the last two weeks with nearly every answer hanging the web page. Sometimes, it gets so bad that opening a new window also hangs, and I have to start a new chat.
The performance this past couple of weeks has been dire.
instead of almost instant responses, it hangs, takes 2-6 mins, sometimes my browser hangs completely and i have to close it off and start a new sessions. I have tried clearing cache, chaning browswers etc.
Its particularly bad as chats get bigger iwth more data.
I have been trying to start fresh chats but reference the older chat. But it hangs even clicking the ‘share’ button to get a link.
If this continues, I’ll end my subscription and swap to other AI until this is sorted out. Can’t work with it like this…
Exactly, like, I have a beast of computer, 32 gigs of RAM, extremely fast internet, and this is suffering the same page for non-responsive on Chrome.
The issue is still there. Although I unsubscribed a few months ago due to the same issue, I just logged in to check, and the issue is still there. Hence, it’s better to move to different AI models. I started using perplexity, it just works fine as of now…..
I had the same problem and having to keep refreshing was very annoying.
Your computer specs don’t matter because this is a backend problem. They did not correctly handle your browser.
I ended up downloading the desktop version and it works just fine.
and I was thinking it is because I am ona very low paid plan “GPT Go” savailable only for India at 4$. After reading your posts I am not upgrading the subscription unless they solve the problem. This problem actally is very annoying when you are in the middle of some deep work, and yes OpenAI should understand there are some like us who are seriously working with AI companion so any delays affects us badly.
I also have this problem in Chrome on Windows 11 on a Plus subscription! Even if I only have one ChatGPT tab opened. Strangely, if i duplicate the tab I see the response. Looks like a bug, please fix!
