I have had MANY chat’s with ChatGPT and it has generated incorrect answers. I get that it is learning BUT - I would expect, surely it is programmed to know how many days there are in each month of the Gregorian Calendar, from day one of its creation and release for public use and consumption!
When I asked it to tell me how many days there were between 22 May and 2 October, it gave me 2 wrong answers and was never going to get it right, until I pointed out the obvious mistake:
ChatGPT:
- The number of days remaining in May: 9 days (from May 22nd to May 31st).
- The full months of June, July, August, and September: 30 days each, totaling 120 days (4 months * 30 days).
- The number of days in October up to October 2nd: 2 days.
Therefore, there are 131 days from May 22nd to October 2nd.
HOW CAN SUCH FUNDAMENTAL BASIC EVERYDAY KNOWLEDGE - THAT NEVER CHANGES - BE WRONG?
I told ChatGPT it was wrong.
ChatGPT:
I apologize if there was an error in my previous response. Let me recalculate the number of days between May 22nd and October 2nd for you.
Therefore, the correct number of days from May 22nd to October 2nd is 132 days.
I told ChatGPT it was wrong - July & August have 31 days.
ChatGPT:
You’re right, and I apologize for the mistake in my previous response. Let me correct the calculation for you:
- May 22nd to May 31st: 10 days (including both endpoints).
- June: 30 days.
- July: 31 days.
- August: 31 days.
- September: 30 days.
- October 1st to October 2nd: 2 days (including both endpoints).
Therefore, the correct number of days from May 22nd to October 2nd is 134 days.
As an AI language model, I don’t have direct access to real-time data or a built-in calendar. My responses are generated based on patterns and information available up until my last training update in September 2021.
COMMENT: How can such fundamental information THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE REALTIME DATA OR A BUILT IN GREGORIAN CALENDAR, THAT NEVER CHANGES be incorrect? It is basic information such as this that is going to generate massive issues FOR THE WORLD with AI going forward. I get that it is always continuously evolving and learning, BUT… the mind boggles!
