chatgpt.com redirects to unified gateway 404

When I open https://chatgpt.com in my main Chrome profile, it immediately redirects to:

https://chat.gateway.unified-26.api.openai.com/

and returns a 404 error.

The strange part is that everything was working normally until last night. The issue appeared suddenly today without any changes on my side.

ChatGPT works normally in:

I have already tried:

  • Clearing cookies and site data for chatgpt.com and openai.com

  • Clearing cache

  • Removing all OpenAI-related storage entries

  • Checking Service Workers (none were registered)

  • Updating Chrome to the latest version

  • Disabling/removing extensions (I don’t have any extensions that interact with ChatGPT)

The issue only affects one specific Chrome profile. Other profiles and Incognito mode work normally on the same computer, network, and account.

Has anyone else experienced chatgpt.com redirecting to chat.gateway.unified-26.api.openai.com and returning a 404 error?

Thanks for sharing all the details and the troubleshooting you’ve already tried.

Since ChatGPT works in Incognito, other Chrome profiles, and with https://chatgpt.com/?oai-dm=1, this looks specific to the affected Chrome profile rather than your account, device, or network.

To help investigate further, could you please capture a HAR file from the affected Chrome profile while reproducing the issue? Please send the HAR file through a support ticket so it can be reviewed securely.

Once you’ve created the support ticket, please share the case ID here so I can take a look at the details available there.
