ChatGPT Bugs On Saved Memory Feature

I think it’s a technical problem. I have a friend who has no problems. However, he often forgets the prompts in memory. It’s been a disaster since last night… and I had to record everything he RPed in mini paragraphs of 50 words max… a joy -_-I contacted support and they finally told me to test on different platforms, which I did. Same problem… and after reading me, they no longer answer me at all!

No, it’s a bug, some friends don’t have the problem…

Seems to be working but now says “while I’m able to save memory keep in mind that I can’t save memory about fictional characters or events due to privacy and openai policy”

Same, but it was the same for me when I only opened this theme here

I think I’m too impatient and just need to wait I guess, unfortunately :sob:

Good to know it was not just me. I was actually starting on another section of a story I am going with, and it was driving me crazy it wasn’t saving. It kept telling me go to the manage memories to see when I asked if it saved, and of course its not there. I see they updated memory in another parts of the world. Sooo maybe a bug of them trying to implement in other areas?

I was trying not to think that was the reason because if so then it’s definitely doomed

Yea I think is what happened. It just say the same to me memory works but cant store record , detail etc only broader fact

Well it was good while lasted :person_shrugging:

strange, i don’t see any warning when i try to remember things about certain characters in the stories i use Chat GPT to write. though it is true that only memories under 50 characters are the only ones being memorized which is a little odd. i mean they did tweak the memory feature a bit… i think… let’s just hope it’s a bug and not a wanted feature because if it was wanted they would’ve put it in the patch/release notes are something and not leave us in the dark like this. but since the changes only aimed to affect the Plus/Pro users it could be just a bug but it’s only a theory until proven right i suppose.

Has to be a bug or glitch. Someone reported the same thing in February

I never had any issues until I noticed today…so if it was happening to someone back a couple month ago…I doubt its some new policy

yea… i think i recall having issues back in February about that aswell but only very vaguely now that it’s mentioned… still that basically confirms it to be a bug or glitch and not a wanted thing. props to you for finding that article though.

alright so this is what GPT told ME when i asked it why the memory feature is not working properly. there were multiple reasons but most are just system related and not really informative. the one in the picture is the one that might give a little more insight. but what really irks me is that OpenAi is not even mentioning this bug or problem in the official server status, sayings it’s all fine

Regional availability is already available to those countries, as stated by OpenAI team on release note. And maybe, perhaps, because of that update that we’ve been experiencing this thing. This is solely my speculations, but I think that’s what happened right now. I already tried to contact the support team using the contact support about it, but like you all know, it’s just like talking to the void right now.

And also, for disclaimer, what the ChatGPT means about memory feature on regional availability is the enhanced memory feature/chat history, which is only available to paid user. While the saved memory was already there for months, or even years, and also enhanced memory was already there to begin with. ChatGPT only limited those countries. But now they opened it up to those countries, we’re also being affected by it as we all know privacy concern/laws on EU or EEA is no joke, fellas.

Although, I’m not really agree with this chat history feature. I mean, I never used such feature for my project as I rely more on saved memory feature. Because it’s just that good at remembering the memory I wanted. There’s also privacy concern, as by using chat history feature, ChatGPT can literally processed all of our chat history and analyze them. Making vital information about us that we never knew it was saved being saved and vulnerable if an attack came.

And I think ChatGPT wanted to encourage (force) us to use this ability. By any means, buy the paid version to use it, rather than letting free-tier user using saved memory feature forever. Which is sucks. I’ve been experimenting using enhanced memory/chat history to work on my project, and it’s really annoying just how easy ChatGPT can forget about it. It literally won’t work unless you pointed at what chat history you mean for ChatGPT to remember. It’s frustrating, really.

Hmm, I find myself in a more interesting situations, like here’s the thing for me- GPT-4o model, seemed to be struggling and unable to recall specific information about my memory.

Like here, I put a rule that say :

“■Since Equestria and the rest of Equus is anthropomorphized, most cultures align similarly to human when it come to clothing, nudity, sex, and modesty.”

Yes I’m using Chatgpt to edit my Pony Stories, now with that aside, when I put down this rule. The GPT-4o model quite often stated things along the line “I can’t store memory across multiple conversations” which is blatantly false.

The few instances it did store what I said, it’s more often than not just don’t appear on the memory management, like it say it did when I asked about it. But when I checked it, it wasn’t there at all.

Even when it did appear, when I asked it in a different conversation, it’s unable to recall this specific rule- even when I specifically and explictly stated about it again.

I don’t know about you guys, but the GPT-4o models seemed to have gotten worse over the past few months, as if something is going on.

For those that asked if I’m using Plus or not, I used both- I have accounts on Plus and accounts on Free. I tested both- and I got the same result, which make me wonder what is going on?

Here’s the thing however, when I at last have no option and tried the GPT-4o-mini version. It stored the information precisely, and it did appear on the memory management page.

Not only that, but when I asked the GPT-4o-mini version about it, it precisely recall about it like to the last. I’m confused, really confused, like why the supposedly larger and better model, is unable to do what the smaller one could do with ease?

Anyone have answer to this? I’m new to this sort of thing because I have encountered nothing like this before.

Dug into it some more…found several other posts from last year reporting the same thing, and some at the beginning of this year. Its not a new thing that’s for sure. I guess we are just the unfortunate ones its happening to now. No real fix for it as far as I an see so just hope that OpenAI actually does something

It’s very frustrating, but the most annoying this is that they’re radio silence about it. Like, are they even trying to fix this issue? Or are they just gonna let it be. I have a plus subscription, if they don’t fix this I’m gonna cancel, and I’m sure many others will too.

So what’s happening? Are they fixing this crap or what ?? About ready to cancel my plus and delete my account
