Issue:
In ChatGPT Atlas vertical tab mode, when closing tabs (especially hidden tabs), closing the last visible tab causes the entire browser window to close without warning. This can lead to accidental window closures and loss of workflow.
Feature Request:
Add a confirmation dialog that warns users before closing the browser window when all tabs are being closed. This would help prevent unintentional window closures, particularly when working with:
- Vertical tab layouts
- Hidden or grouped tabs
- Multiple tab management workflows
Proposed Solutions:
- Display a “Close window?” confirmation dialog when the last tab is closed
- Add a browser setting: “Warn before closing window when all tabs are closed”
- Optionally keep a pinned/system tab open to prevent accidental window closure
This feature would significantly improve the user experience for power users managing multiple tabs in Atlas.
