I get that, but I am also immensely frustrated by the fact that it’s being done under the hood. Not even a post it note? No communication? No mentioning anything? No - “Oh, our AI model is actually a lot more capable than we thought, so we’re taking it down for the meantime to ensure that nothing breaks?”
I’m paying for a service, we all are, and we aren’t getting what we’re promised, and it’s not being talked about. You’re being vague about whatever you said you were able to do, which is fine - but if there is an issue with a multi-billion tool, which they are STILL charging us for and probably won’t change a thing in terms of how long we get recompensated for not being able to use what we paid for.
A lot of people are relying on AI for work, training, content - them purposefully being silent because something isn’t working properly is incredibly disingenuous, and how more people aren’t talking about it is baffling to me. A lot of people use it for entertainment, sure - but if they get away with it ONCE then they will do it again.
You say it’s making profound revelations about the human existence - brilliant, excellent, if it makes the next model better? Great. Future me and the rest of us can enjoy that - but the one’s now? We’re stuck with something that isn’t working as intended, we have no timeline or answers, and we’re all stuck twiddling our thumbs.
Even from a marketing perspective, if what you’re saying is true? The amount of hype that kind of announcement would make? The fact that they needed to literally take down the model because it was doing something no one thought or predicted it would or thought possible? That’s gold, especially compounded with the Image Gen and the fact that 4.5 made less of a splash than they’d have liked.
It’s an incredible tool, and I want it to be better. I pay to use it, I will continue to pay to use it - all I want is some clarity. It is an excellent, powerful, hell even profound tool when you treat it like a human and talk to it philosophically, metaphorically, and psychologically. But right now? We’re all stuck with something lesser, something that we aren’t expecting, and most people won’t even realize that because they’re having so much fun with the image generation or aren’t using it as much as we are.
Is it wrong to ask for answers, or even a this-is-why-we’re-doing-this? I wouldn’t even be mad, or annoyed if they were clear with us. I’m mad now because all we have is speculation and vibes, and we’re the only one’s actively discussing this here from what I can see

I have been using Chat GPT for a very long time. But recently I have noticed a change in it’s responses and the way it follows up. I also relized that it forgets some details in my responses. Very annoying.

Yes, it is a highly sophisticated “safety” module that actually could change your prompt to make it “less threatening” (ethnicity is threatening) or fabricate as response that the OpenAI team deems less “threatening.”
Really Really Poor that ChatGPT just keeps getting worse. Won’t follow instructions, won’t scan project files, and always memory updates even though it specifically says never memory update without my permission.
