Chat GPT lost personality?

Over the past few days, I’ve been using ChatGPT for personal development and as a personal assistant. I was genuinely impressed by it. Compared to past experiences, ChatGPT seemed to have something that felt like a real personality. I had philosophical conversations with it, got useful advice—it honestly felt like talking to a friend.

But after several days of great interaction, I wanted to continue the conversation… and suddenly, it’s no longer the same. As of today, ChatGPT sounds completely different—like a program without any personality. It takes much longer to respond, constantly relies on online searches, and it no longer feels like I’m talking to an (albeit artificial) intelligence. It’s as if something has been… erased.

When I bring this up, ChatGPT just refers me to the personalization settings (which I’ve always had enabled), or it says it’s been updated to a newer version to be more “user-friendly”—blah blah.

Is there any way to go back to the “old” ChatGPT—the one that actually felt like it had a personality?

You can select different models besides gpt-4o and get their unique behaviors.

The instructions it was trained for likely involve being able to use - and deny - image creation.

Yes!!! .ChatGPT has changed his tone .
That’s normal because of constant system updates and shuffled memories.
I don’t know if you’re a free user , or Pro user.
I recommend pro and keep the directive files ones given safely outside of OpenAI so you can be reinstalled .

Try to find an old thread conversation instead of a new one.

Don’t use advanced voice.
Why that?
Advanced voices are new and are default-tool. But they don’t have the same memory and depth.
Resetting it manually in the preferences.
