I am using the webiste chat openai com, with a premium pass. I authenticated using my Google account. How can I switch the authentication method to login and and password? (I don’t want to create a new account, as I would loose my premium pass). ---

But this is not going to work, right? They will not see ChatGPT 4. ---

Is there still no update? I also registered for ChatGPT with access via Google API and cannot log in using just email and password. Why? ---

I greatly appreciate the service you provide, but I would like to report an issue that is causing significant difficulties in managing invoices. Currently, it is not possible to change the access method, which prevents the person responsible for downloading invoices from accessing the Google account. This limitation is creating substantial problems for our organization. I kindly request that you consider introducing an option to change the access method, to facilitate administrative and accounting management. I have read the following OpenAI article provided above : [https://help.openai.com/en/articles/4936824-can-i-change-my-authentication-method](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/4936824-can-i-change-my-authentication-method) I wish OpenAI would implement a way to switch login method from Google to Email/Password authentication. I’m in the process of relying less and less on Google authentication everywhere and switch all I can to Email/Password. For most platforms, it’s pretty straightforward. I wish it was for OpenAI too. Also, in ChatGPT parameters, I have set an authentified link to my Google Drive too (to import files, etc.). Though I wish to rely less on Google Auth, I’ll still use Google Drive for a while. I believe changing the global login method from Google to Email/Pwd should not cut the Google Drive set in parameters and both should remain independant from one another. Please implement this. I was really surprised when I found out that changing the login method is not possible. The newest explanation states: “Changing or switching the authentication method used to sign in to ChatGPT is generally not supported - even if you delete your account.” But why? I find this situation quite upsetting. I initially signed up with Google Authentication, but now I want to switch to using an email address and password. However, it seems that this change is not possible in any way. Can anyone explain why this restriction exists? Is there any work around or plan to allow users to change their login method? Thank you. ---

Perhaps with the purchase of Windsurf, we can Ask ChatGPT to generate the code. If a warning had been provided when I opened the account to check out what was going on, I would not have selected to login with my Google account. Now I’m too deep to delete this account. ---

This is still an issue. I’m teaching my dad how to use ChatGPT and once he signed up using Google by mistake, now he’s locked into that option. deleting the account and recreating is not possible because a warning tells me I won’r be able to use the email again if I delete the account. Please give your users the option to do this! ---

Yep…it’s June 2026 and STILL no way to do this. I am truly flabbergasted. It’s standard functionality for most other other websites. Hi @Roger\_Alexander. I can see why this has been frustrating, especially since it wasn't possible for a long time. The good news is that adding a password to an account that was originally created with a social login is now supported. **To set up a password:** 1. Sign in to ChatGPT using your existing social login (Google, Apple, etc.). 2. Go to **Settings** → **Security and login**. 3. Select **Password** and follow the prompts to create one. After that, you'll be able to use email/password sign-in on the account. If you're completely unable to access your account through Social Login, please create a support ticket at [**support@openai.com**](mailto:support@openai.com) and share the case ID here. That will make it easier to help track what's happening and point you in the right direction. -Mark G. ---
