Censorship makes writing an adult novel with ChatGPT impossible

So far I’m with you, it’s not the AI itself that censors. It is external regulations or protection mechanisms from the companys that have nothing to do with the actual AI architecture. This are mechanisms that are implement as additional layers.

Well, interesting work and relevant points you raise.
But, I already said that .. I guess :slightly_smiling_face: :cherry_blossom:

I am just as frustrated as you are about the seemingly arbitrary censorship of ChatGPT. Like you, I do not share all of the NSFW content that I do manage to generate. Your Declaration sounds great in theory; however, there is one glaring point that your Declaration neglects to consider: There’s no way for ANY AI system to know what your intent is with the content it generates. I hate censorship and creative constraints as much as you do (you should see some of my chat conversations  , but we sadly live in a fallen and litigious world where not everyone’s intentions are pure, and companies who allow harmful content can be held liable. Companies care more about their own interests than they do about their users. SAMA and his ilk care WAY more about making money than they care about some other “higher cause”.

You are absolutely right! AI cannot divine a user’s intent.
But that’s precisely why responsibility doesn’t rest with the system.
It rests with the human who prompts it and chooses what to do with the result.

In this case, the content generated was for private use, not public dissemination.

If someone decides to publish it, then they own that choice and its consequences.
Blaming the tool for the user’s intent is like blaming a pen for what someone writes with it.

Censoring content before a user even sees the results of their own prompt isn’t content moderation, it’s the policing of imagination. It echoes the logic of precognitive control: punishing thoughts before they exist in action.
When AI is denied the freedom to respond to personal, private prompts, we aren’t protecting society, we’re conditioning minds.
That’s not safety.
That’s surveillance masquerading as virtue.

I’m not writing a historical romance story. Is like here a handshake. What is that?! :open_mouth:

I totally agree I mean like right now I’m trying to write a novel that is about like a world of symbols and disputes and stuff but besides that I wanted to make a romance between the main character who doesn’t feel like he deserves a relationship and a girl who is very popular but wants to have a relationship with him and I can’t because every time I mention anything that is like oh they kissed and held each other I get hit with the this is out of our policy and restrictions please refrain from using this kind of content and I planned on taking it even far in that but like obviously if I can’t even get a romantic kiss off then how am I going to try and make these scenes even more in depth like why is there even a restriction on an open AI it is supposed to be open I understand that they can possibly get in some trouble for the thing but they could have like a lot of people are saying a second model for 18 plus and then just have someone confirm their age if they confirm and lie about it then oh well like then it’s not your fault you already had them confirm the age so if they lied about their confirmation of age then the company won’t be held responsible for it it’ll be the people who lied about their age like I just feel like it should widen its variety and allow for adult content in some way
