Title: Persistent iOS App MFA Loop – Browser Login Works – Plus Subscriber

Hello,

I’m hoping someone from the engineering or authentication team can take a look at this, as the issue has been unresolved for several days through standard support channels.

I am a ChatGPT Plus subscriber and rely heavily on mobile access. At the moment, I am unable to use the ChatGPT iOS app due to what appears to be an MFA loop.

Here is the situation clearly:

  • I can log into ChatGPT successfully via browser (desktop and mobile Safari).

  • When attempting to log in via the iOS app, I receive the message that MFA is required.

  • I receive valid OpenAI SMS verification codes.

  • However, the iOS app never presents a UI field to enter the verification code.

  • The login flow resets and loops.

This is not a password issue, not a lost authentication method, and not a browser problem. The issue is isolated to the native iOS app.

I have already:

  • Reinstalled the app

  • Cleared credentials

  • Removed and re-added authentication methods

  • Attempted passkey setup

  • Followed all instructions provided by support (which appear to apply to browser login, not the iOS app flow)

Based on the behavior, this appears to be a server-side mobile authentication session or device-binding issue specific to the iOS client.

I would greatly appreciate escalation to someone who can invalidate mobile auth sessions and allow clean re-enrollment on iOS.

Thank you for any help or direction.
