I get the same errror with WORD docs and pdf with selectable text. What is going on ? And I am a paying customer.
In case it helps anybody, I had the same error for a simple .txt file (MSI installer logfile) that it refused with the âUnknown Error Occuredâ every time. When I removed the file extension it accepted the file. The first analyze failed, then I uploaded it again and it said it contained non-Unicode data and proceeded to read and analyze the file. So maybe try and remove the file extension and include the type of file in the prompt and see if that changes anything.
12.26, I am experiencing the same issue.
- Sometimes Word document works, but PDF doesnât.
- If I try more than twice, it will ask me to Get Plus⌠I was tempted but after seeing that paying customers have the same issueâŚ
I was/am getting âUnknown error occurredâ when trying to upload text files. ChatGTP offhandedly mentioned the issue was that it wasnât formatted as UTF-8. I opened the file in Notepad++ and the file was formatted as UTF-16 LE BOM. I changed the formatting to UTF-8 and saved it. It uploaded fine. I tried this with multiple files and I would get âUnknown error occurredâ when they were formatted as UTF-16 LE BOM, but when I changed it to UTF-8 and saved they uploaded just fine - every time.
OP, Same issue as you and everyone else. Have been trying for minutes and came across this response from the system:
The files appear to have no text content. Itâs possible they consist entirely of images or other non-extractable data formats. I can either process them as images for text extraction or provide guidance on manually reviewing them. Let me know how youâd like to proceed!
Looked at two of the files and realized they were presenting as images. I opened them up in Adobe Acrobat Pro (donât know if it works on the free version) and ran them through âScan & OCRâ. It fixed the issue.
My Steps:
Adobe Acrobat Pro > Scan & OCR > Enhanced Scan File > Recognize Text > Enhance
Than save the file(s) and upload again.
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS HELPED ME ALOT !! By the way, for people who wants to do this too I recommend using slidespilot
I believe Iâve found a solution for some people experiencing issues. If youâre trying to upload a scanned document (like a book thatâs been scanned), search for âPDF OCR.â You can use Adobe Acrobatâs OCR converter, which is what I used. Hereâs why this works: when uploading a scanned document, the system often canât recognize the text, leading to an âUnknown Error Occurredâ message. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology converts the text in scanned documents into machine-readable text. In simple terms, OCR allows ChatGPT to process and understand the document content. To sum up, this is a solution for those who are trying to upload scanned documents.
Workaround solution is to copy the text file content to word file (.docx) and attach to ChatGPT. It works for me.
Send the file to a zip seems to be the workaround
thanks champ! that worked me for me. seems obvious now that i think about it
I used PDF24 and it worked perfect for this thank you so much!
I am getting this problem for TXT files. One solution for me was putting the files in my drive and then uploading them from there and that worked.
