Hi! Same problem with error message “The payments page encountered an error. Please try again. If the problem continues, please visit help.openai.com”. It doesn’t solve yet? Or I need to register a new acc?
I wrote a message to support center but they didn’t answer yet.

I’m using login via google account, and also experience the same problem, for last 3 days, “The payments page encountered an error. Please try again. If the problem continues, please visit help.openai.com.” And I tried at different times, when ChatGPT wasn’t too busy

Same issue, but just that I’m already subscribed to PLUS earlier this month. I’m in Korea, had no problems using the service until today. Anyone having similar problems?

Same issue here. I tried to upgrade to gpt-plus with Google provider (which I was using all the time) with no luck. I switched to my microsoft account (never used it before) and I was able to upgrade

I’m having this issue as well. I’ve tried numerous browsers and devices. I’ve cleared cache and cookies. Nothing is working. This has been happening since they announced GPT4.

If it makes any difference, I’m using my Google account to login. Please take my money lol.

Hey, thanks this actually worked for me!!
Which makes me sure that OpenAI somehow prevents some accounts from upgrading with their logic…

It was very unpleasant experience where no support replys back and just left me feel of unfairness

Same issue. Living in the U.S. I’ve been trying multiple times for the last week or so, using my Google account and always getting the same error message. I was hoping it was temporary and due to server load.

Today I tried clicking on this payments page again and I found that issue has been solved😉(log in with Google)

OpenAI next blocks my upgrade with API…
I could upgrade to gpt-plus with another account, but after several usage yesterday and today,
I again was blocked from registering credit card in OpenAI API
to use API…

I already tried 3 card including international card, they definately has some filter to block subscribing.
This is very unfair.

So I’ll list tips to successfully subscribe to both gpt-plus and API for those who are now “blocked” from subscribing.

  1. Create another account.
    You have to get another SMS number to authentication

  2. Upgrade right after the registration.
    If you want to both subscribe gpt-plus and API, DO NOT ask any questions before subscribing

Then everything will be fine.
Note that this is not proved information.but this seems to be the resolution for the time being.

This is what worked for me, too. After a fortnight of unsuccessfully trying to upgrade. Thanks a bunch for the tip.

I had this problem and I tried everything to solve this. I finally found the solution:

Go to OpenAI API and add a credit card.

Try to upgrade again.

It works!
