On the Limits page, I can see my account is Usage tier 2, and the documentation says that the ‘o1’ model can be accessed at this tier. However, when calling the ‘o1’ API, I still receive the error message: “The model o1 does not exist or you do not have access to it.”
This is “the documentation” that says that you may indeed not.

- A subset of API users on usage tiers 1-5 (not all Tier 1–5 users have access yet).
What is that subset criteria? No answer except for some algorithm run against unknown criteria. Considering the model was released in 2024, It is not a case of “not yet”, it seems it is a case of “won’t give”.
You can give up an ID card as verification proof and get to 03, or pre-pay your way there, if that same documentation holds.
