Dear user community,
I’m new to reporting bugs in ChatGPT. In all fairness I’m not sure if this is a ChatGPT bug or an Open AI bug,
If this post is off topic, apologies - please direct me to the proper place (I asked Chagpt how to report bugs but its response was out dated)
Here’s the scenario:
I was asking ChatGPT to compare two bio pharma systems, Veeva Link and Monocl. As expected, it did a wonderful job of providing me a quick comparison.
Around the same time, I received a spam phone call from a local phone number on my cell phone. Although it was an actual working phone number, I will use a generic non working number (707) 555-1212 for this example.
In the same thread, I asked Chatgpt to tell me who’s phone number is (707) 555-1212.
It replied that this phone number is for Monocl.
I know either is true:
- This IS Monocl’s phone number and somehow they got my cell phone number when I was looking up their company in ChatGPT (completely unexpected and may violate privacy laws)
or
- The ChatGPT engine made a mistake and assumed this was the phone number of the last company I looked up. (memory leak - threading issue, assumption, no source identified) when clicking the Source button.
I tried to look up the number separately on Google, and could not find any hits.
I’ve attached the transcript for your perusal. Note the word REDACTED is being used so the actual spam phone number is not revealed.
