Description:
I have encountered an issue with the “Read Aloud” feature in the ChatGPT Android app. When using the feature by selecting “Read Aloud” from the context menu (after long-pressing on the AI’s input), the app reads the text out loud, and a white playback bar appears at the top of the screen.
On this playback bar, there is a button that should automatically play new messages aloud without needing to select “Read Aloud” again during the conversation. When pressed, it displays the message “New messages will be read aloud,” and the button is supposed to turn blue to indicate it is active. However, since a recent update, this feature no longer functions correctly. The button remains white, and new messages are not read aloud automatically.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open a conversation in the ChatGPT Android app.
- Long press on any AI-generated input to bring up the context menu.
- Select “Read Aloud” from the options.
- Observe the white playback bar that appears at the top of the screen.
- Press the button on the playback bar that should enable automatic reading of new messages.
- Notice that the button remains white instead of turning blue, and new messages are not read aloud automatically.
Expected Behavior:
The button should turn blue upon activation, and new messages should be read aloud automatically during the conversation.
Actual Behavior:
The button remains white, and new messages are not read aloud automatically.
App Version: 1.2024.219
Device Information:
- Device: Poco X5 Pro
- Android Version: 13
Additional Notes:
This issue only began after a recent update to the app. Prior to the update, the feature worked as expected.
