Bug Report — Math/formula rendering missing parts in ChatGPT answer

Environment

  • Device: OnePlus 13R

  • OS: Android 14

  • App Version: 1.2025.294 (16)

  • Locale / Language: (assume Chinese prompts)

  • Reproducible: intermittent but repeatable with same prompt

Summary

Issue: When I ask ChatGPT to show a mathematical formula (example prompt: “複習利率中文公式”), the answer sometimes renders with parts of the formula missing.

Workaround: If I tap the message, long-press to select text, then exit selection, the formula re-renders correctly and the missing pieces reappear.

This is a UI/rendering problem — content exists but is not painted until a text selection forces a reflow/refresh.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open ChatGPT app.

  2. Enter prompt: 複習利率中文公式.

  3. Send and wait for the assistant reply.

  4. Observe the answer — formula may be missing parts or rendered incompletely.

  5. Tap the ChatGPT message, long-press and drag to select text inside the message.

  6. Exit the selection (tap elsewhere or deselect).

  7. The formula re-renders correctly and missing parts return.

Expected result

Formulas display fully and correctly on first render without requiring user interaction.
