Feature Request: Bookmarks, Tags, and Chapters in ChatGPT Conversations
I use ChatGPT as a long-term knowledge base for recipes, travel planning, investing, projects, and many other topics. Over time, conversations become very long, and it becomes difficult to find information that I know is already there.
I would love a feature that allows me to:
add my own bookmarks to individual messages,
organize messages with tags (e.g. Recipes, Pizza, Investing, Travel),
create sections or chapters within a conversation,
view all bookmarked messages in one place,
and optionally let ChatGPT suggest saving messages as Favorites, House Recipes, or other custom collections.
This would make ChatGPT much more useful as a long-term personal knowledge base, rather than just a chat interface.
Search is helpful, but it isn’t always enough when conversations span months or years. A lightweight organization system with bookmarks, tags, or chapters would make it much easier to build and maintain a personal library of knowledge over time.
I think I’d add one more point, because your use case is a really good example:
> Real-world example: My family uses a shared ChatGPT conversation as our cookbook, travel planner, wine guide, investment notebook, and general knowledge base. We often return to recipes or advice that we know we’ve used before, but finding them again can be surprisingly difficult. Features like bookmarks, tags, and chapters would dramatically improve this experience.
