Hi,
after testing ChatGPT a little on friday, I wanted to upgrade to PLUS and made the mistake of asking ChatGPT how to do this. Answer:
Login to openai, create a payment method and upload the amount. Then use this amount for ChatGPT Plus.
Uploaded the money as decribed and unfortunately this does not work!
Asking again, ChatGPT says that this was a mistake and that I should pay again for Plus and contact support to resolve the issue.
Support has replied standard-text to me twice saying that:
- I will not get the money back, which I deposited into my openai account according to ChatGPT’s instructions
- The credit cannot be offset against the next month for ChatGPT Plus.
Since I have no usecase for the API, the money will stay there forever.
Yes, of course I shouldn’t have just listened to ChatGPT’s answer on how to upgrade to Plus and I have to question every answer. Nevertheless, I somehow assumed that ChatGPT would answer the question about ChatGPT correctly - my mistake and I absolutly understand that.
I didn’t expect that the support team wouldn’t help me and that my money would be lost.
So that others don’t make the same mistake, I would like to share here what happened to me in the rush to quickly test ChatGPT Plus and with the support afterwards.
Maybe it will help others to save their money and only pay for what they really want to use.
