Banked Codex resets disappeared in the new ChatGPT desktop app (Windows)

Summary

Several of my banked Codex rate-limit resets appear to have disappeared.

On July 8, the Codex app showed 4 resets. After using one reset that day, I had 3 remaining. I also expected an additional reset from the latest overnight distribution.

However, the app now shows only 2 resets, and their expiration dates are:

  • August 1, 2026
  • August 12, 2026

None of the resets that should expire during July are displayed anymore.

Timeline

CleanShot 2026-07-08 at 17.26.17@2x

  • July 8, 2026, 17:26 KST (UTC+9): The Codex app showed 4 resets available.
  • Their remaining times were:
    • 3d 16h
    • 9d 16h
    • 18d 15h
    • 23d 11h
  • Based on the screenshot timestamp, these correspond approximately to:
    • July 12
    • July 18
    • July 27
    • August 1
  • Later on July 8, I used exactly one reset, leaving 3 resets.
  • I also expected one additional banked reset from the latest overnight distribution.
  • As of July 13 KST, the app shows only 2 resets, expiring on:
    • August 1
    • August 12

This suggests that the August 1 reset remained and that the newly added reset may be the August 12 reset, while the July-expiring resets disappeared.

Even if the earliest reset expired around July 12—or was not the reset consumed when I used one on July 8—at least one of the July 18 or July 27 resets should still be visible. Neither is currently displayed.

The attached screenshot was taken on July 8. The Korean text translates to:

Limit reset credits
4 uses available

Expected behavior

After using one of the 4 resets shown on July 8, I expected the remaining resets to stay available until their individual expiration dates.

With the additional reset from the latest distribution, I expected up to 4 resets in total. At minimum, one or more of the resets expiring around July 18 and July 27 should still be listed.

Actual behavior

Only 2 resets are displayed:

  • One expiring August 1
  • One expiring August 12

All resets with July expiration dates have disappeared from the UI before their expected expiration dates.

Because Codex does not provide a visible reset transaction history, I cannot determine:

  • Which reset was consumed on July 8
  • When and why the July resets were removed
  • Whether this is only a display issue or the resets were deleted from my account
  • Whether the August 12 reset is the newly distributed reset

Environment

  • Product: Codex desktop app
  • ChatGPT plan: Pro
  • Codex app version: 26.707.61608
  • Operating system: Windows 11 Pro, version 25H2
  • Time zone: Asia/Seoul (UTC+9)

Request

Could OpenAI please audit the banked-reset history for my account and restore any resets that were removed before their expiration dates?

It would also be helpful if the usage page provided a transaction history showing:

  1. When each reset was granted
  2. Its expiration date
  3. Which reset was consumed
  4. Whether a reset expired or was administratively removed

I can provide additional account information privately if needed.

I have the exact same issue. does it have something to do with the new models?

That’s my suspicion too. It might be a side effect of OpenAI temporarily lifting the 5-hour limit when the new models were released.

+) I received another banked reset early this morning, but the reset that was set to expire on August 1 has now disappeared too. The app currently shows only two resets, expiring on August 12 and August 13. This makes it look as though an older banked reset is being removed whenever a new one is added.

아니 진짜 왜이러는 거에요 ㅜㅜ

@goopgoop-oai
Just a quick follow-up to see if there are any technical updates regarding the missing Banked Reset issue under Ticket #12419352.
Support kindly confirmed last week that this was related to a known bug under internal review.
I am checking in to see if any backend resolution or global fix timeline has been established by the engineering team.
Thank you!
