Automatically alternate Scheduled Tasks on and off weekly or every two weeks

I would like to propose a feature that allows ChatGPT Scheduled Tasks to be automatically enabled and paused according to a recurring rotation.

Currently, users can schedule a task for specific days and times. It would also be useful to define active and inactive periods without having to manually edit or pause each task whenever the schedule changes.

One possible use case is alternating between two groups of tasks:

  • Week A: Group A tasks are active, while Group B tasks are paused.

  • Week B: Group B tasks become active, while Group A tasks are paused.

  • After Week B, the cycle automatically starts again.

The same system could support a biweekly rotation:

  • First two weeks: Group A is active and Group B is paused.

  • Following two weeks: Group B is active and Group A is paused.

  • The cycle then repeats automatically.

Users could configure:

  • the cycle’s starting date;

  • the duration of each period, such as one or two weeks;

  • the groups of tasks to alternate;

  • the active or paused state of each group;

  • exceptions for holidays, vacations or special periods;

  • a calendar preview showing which tasks will be active in future weeks;

  • a control for temporarily pausing the entire rotation;

  • the option to resume the cycle where it stopped or restart it.

A simple interface could offer instructions such as:

“Alternate this task with another task every week.”

Or:

“Keep this task active for two weeks, pause it for the following two weeks, and repeat.”

This feature could be useful for:

  • alternating work shifts;

  • training programs;

  • study plans;

  • periodic treatments or routines;

  • managing different projects;

  • alternating work and rest weeks;

  • family activities based on rotating schedules.

The goal is not simply to send reminders on different days. It is to let ChatGPT automatically manage whether different Scheduled Tasks are active or paused during each part of the recurring cycle.

Users could create their rotating schedule once and let ChatGPT manage it over time, without having to manually enable and disable tasks every week or every two weeks.
