It seems like auto-recharge might be broken, and it took my site offline for more than an hour.
I have two cards on file, and auto-recharge is on and has been working fine for many months. I got billed twice already today, but something went wrong in the last couple hours apparently, because my site just went down for about 90 mins because my credit balance went to -0.40. I didn’t receive any emails, and there’s no sign on OpenAI or my credit card(s) that payment was attempted and declined. Auto-recharge still appears to be enabled, but isn’t triggering. I manually added $100 with the card on file to get site back online, and I also edited my auto-recharge settings to bring us to $200 once we drop below $100. I’ve been below $100 for about a half hour now, and auto-recharge hasn’t triggered. I’m going to manually add some more balance to this to ensure we don’t run out in the middle of the night, but this is extremely concerning!
Well, auto-recharge just succeeded again, which is almost worse. So now I feel like I can never trust whether my OpenAI account might run out of balance at any point and auto-recharge might silently fail.
Also, the AI support bot has been pretty annoying and useless, could a human please look at this?
Thanks, RyanW. I too had recharge fail on me today (July 12).
The API started failing with 429:
Too Many Requests
Request rate limit has been exceeded (OpenAI\Exception\RateLimitException).
The error message doesn’t say anything about this being a billing problem.
My card is good, and I had not had a recharge this month (so below the threshold.) I also had grants that could have been used, but were not. I’ve recharged this account successfully for over a year.
I also received no emails that anything was wrong.
