Authentication changes to this forum

We’ve changed the auth flow for community.openai.com in the backend. For most (and hopefully all) of you, there should be no perceivable change to how you sign in to this forum.

We’ve moved to OpenID Connect and adjusted the requirements for new sign-ups. An OpenAI account is a hard requirement—new community members are required to have an account with the API Platform in order to have an account in this forum. (When signing up here, you are asked to sign in via https://auth.openai.com/log-in, and when you fill out your Discourse profile, Discourse will check if the email address matches that of your API Platform account.)

The reason for this is simple: this forum is designed for technical discussions around building with the OpenAI APIs and its developer products. We hope this small tweak will keep the forum productive for you and all the developers who rely on this space. Again, this should not impact existing community members—and if you do run into any issues, please DM me.

Previously, I could not log into the dev community forum when using a browser in one laptop but I could log in via using a browser in ANOTHER laptop. Thus I guess it could have something to do with our Chrome profile and google sign ins ?
