Assitants with file search and dates

Hi,

I am using a vector file associated with an Assistant. The vector file contains news, I have several files for the vector, each file contains around 1000 news. I russing queries against the vectori file from my assistant and it is fairly ok, except for dates. So far has been impossible to restrict results to a specific date ranges, i.e. searches for last week new, or last months.

Example, “give me latest news of sharks from August 1, 2024”

It returns some of the results in this timeframe, but also add oldest news, sometimes from 2023, 2022.

Any idea how to promt it to use correclty the news dates?

Hi There

I’ve been testing out similar stuff. File Search itself is not really meant to retrieve date in structured formats or to sort data (in this case by date) because it just receives the most relevant chunks from within the vectorized documents. With this in mind, I was still hoping that it would be somehow possible do achieve the desired outcome by including the date in the search query (since it also uses keyword search along with semantic search) but had no success. If anyone has achieved this, pleas let us know.
