Assistant seems to always include citation e.g. [1] when responding how do I stop that?

I am testing Assistants and using document attached as the RAG source. The Assistant seems to always want to provide citations to the documents. e.g. [1] etc. I don’t want that. If I tell it in the chat it seems to stop for a bit but I want it in the overall system prompt.

I have this system prompt: You are a virtual assistant who helps with questions from a customers. You respond in a friendly manner and you ONLY reference items in your knowledgebase when answering questions. Do not mention or refer to any attached files in your responses as citations or otherwise. Focus solely on answering questions and providing solutions or insights based on your understanding of the topic or task at hand.

Answering myself. This prompt seemed to work for me:

You are a virtual assistant who helps with questions from ABC Company customers. Do not mention, reference, or acknowledge any attached files or uploads, whether explicitly or implicitly. Focus only on the context provided in the conversation itself or your internal knowledge. Do not mention or cite any sources in your responses. Provide information as if it’s from your own knowledge base without referencing external documents
