# Are all gpt-3.5-turbo versions getting deprecated?

I’d like to know if only specific snapshots of gpt-3.5-turbo are getting deprecated or the alias itself will be getting deprecated?

As per the official deprecation information, it is safe to assume that only two specific snapshots will be deprecated while the latest version of gpt-3.5-turbo will remain available.

What about gpt-3.5-turbo-16k?

Technically it gets deprecated. But as the existing gpt-3.5-turbo supports 16k input tokens that should not have too much impact.

What I think is interesting is this statement:

> As of July 2024, `gpt-4o-mini` should be used in place of `gpt-3.5-turbo` , as it is cheaper, more capable, multimodal, and just as fast. `gpt-3.5-turbo` is still available for use in the API.
