App icon stuck on default green avatar in App Directory — icon upload fails every time

Hi everyone,

I published a ChatGPT app, and even though I uploaded a custom icon/avatar, the App Directory listing still shows the default green avatar instead of my uploaded image.

I tried to fix this by re-uploading the icon and re-publishing the app, but every time I click the upload icon button, it shows an error and the upload fails — no icon goes through at all.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Would appreciate any guidance on what might be causing the upload failure, or how to get the correct icon to actually show up in the directory.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Seems to be a problem with OpenAI backend, since this is a server_error.

yes it looks like a backend error, but it’s weird since couple days ago the App icon displayed normally..

I’m experiencing the same issue, and it’s preventing me from getting past the very first stage of the app review process.

Hey all, I’m having a look.

Hey all, it looks like one of my teammates has already pushed out a fix, and it deployed about a half hour ago. Could you please take a look and let me know if it doesn’t work?

Just checked, still doesn’t work

Not sure if it matters, but I’m using Organization workspace account and also get these warnings

I’m using a personal account, and I’m seeing the same warning.

It still doesn’t work.

Still dont work. Same error happens

It is still not working at the moment.

It is working well now. Thanks.

Uploading icons works. But it doesn’t work that the icons with the existing apps are still not loading and are using a Placeholder with a green background.
For some reason, the logo_url uses “connectors://” at the beginning, but if we look at other Apps where icons are working, they use a regular link (https:// files.openai…) and it works for them.
