Allow users to customize the model selector by hiding specific models

It would be useful to have an option to customize which models appear in the Codexmodel selector.

As more models become available, the selector can become crowded with models that an individual user rarely or never uses. Users could be given a “Manage Models” option where they can choose which models are visible.

For example, if I don’t use GPT-5.5 or GPT-6 Astra, I could hide those models from my selector while keeping the models I regularly use visible.

Hiding a model would not disable access to it or permanently remove it. Hidden models could appear in a separate “Hidden Models” or “Manage Models” section, where they could be re-enabled at any time.

This could make the model selector cleaner and more personalized, especially for users who have access to many models but regularly use only a few.

Ideally, the feature could include:

  • A toggle for each available model to show or hide it.
  • A section for viewing and restoring hidden models.
  • A “Reset to Default” option.
  • The ability to keep newly released models visible by default so users can discover them before deciding whether to hide them.

This would give users more control over the Codex interface without changing their actual model access.

thats a good idea to be fair.
