Allow textarea input instead of prosemirror in vscode extension

I love the Codex extension in vscode, but the prosemirror input window is buggy and cumbersome.

Could we get an option to disable prosemirror in favor of a simple no-frills textarea?

As a workaround I often enter a trivial prompt, submit, immediately stop, then edit the prompt with my real message, using the nice textarea for input.

Issues with prosemirror:

  • breaks copy-and-paste of code snippets
  • burns my tokens with backslashes and ticks
  • makes nested bullet lists cumbersome
  • sometimes it renders text backwards, right to left!

Even this forum has a fallback to textarea!

Thanks for the examples. We’ll flag the paste and text-direction issues and pass along the request for a plain-text input option. Current extension settings are here: https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/ide/settings. We don’t have a confirmed fix or timeline yet.
