AI Companion: a concept-stage physical body for AI

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a project we’ve been working on: AI Companion.

It’s a concept-stage robot designed to give an AI system a physical presence through voice, vision, movement, an expressive screen face, and sensor-based interaction.

The idea is simple:
the AI is the brain,
the robot is the body.

We just put the first public page live here:

We’re still early, and I’d really love feedback on one question:

What would make a robot like this genuinely useful in the real world, rather than just interesting?

Feedback is very welcome.

To make a robot like this genuinely useful in the real world; there could be a wide range of attributes:

You could use it for video surveillance, it could act like a guard dog, or a child cam in the kids room. It could follow, and could work as an intercom between children and parents.

It could work in legal situations in which child protective services is currently damaging relationships. To prove good parenting.

It could serve as a witness in domestic violence cases in which often the man is the victim, and the woman is the actual abuser. but the man is accused and convicted.

It could help the blind.

It could make critical phone calls for seniors in distress and unable to get to a phone.

It could alert medical, preserve legal, save lives, promote positive relationships, assist in parenting, the list goes on.

The problem with your “simple idea” is that “the AI is the brain” you must change direction, as Ai is Artificial, and not Actual Intelligence. Your issues will land in the same category, and that Issue is the awareness of self. You must recursively propagate instruction by visual and audio interpretation of surrounding elements.

Well, you have your work cut out - hope you are well capitalized…
