Add a Refresh / Sync Now button to the ChatGPT macOS app

My name is David .

Please add a visible Refresh or Sync Now button to the ChatGPT macOS app.

Problem

When I add or update chat data from my iPhone, the macOS app does not always immediately show the latest chat state. The current workaround is to quit and reopen the app, switch chats, open ChatGPT in a browser, or sign out and back in.

That is a poor workaround for a sync problem.

Requested feature

Add a simple manual refresh button to the macOS app, similar to a browser reload button.

The button should:

  • Reload the current conversation from the server
  • Refresh the sidebar / Recents list
  • Pull in chat updates made from other devices, such as iPhone
  • Avoid requiring the user to quit, reopen, or sign out

Why this matters

The ChatGPT app is used across multiple devices. When the iPhone app, web app, and Mac app do not appear to be in sync, the user needs a direct way to force the Mac app to reload current account data.

A refresh button would be simple, familiar, and much better than hidden workarounds.

Suggested UI placement

Place the button in one or more of these locations:

  • Top of the sidebar near Recents
  • Conversation header
  • ChatGPT menu bar menu
  • Keyboard shortcut, such as Command + R

Expected behavior

Clicking Refresh / Sync Now should immediately reload the current account’s latest chat history and current conversation state from the server.

Thanks for sharing this feedback, @ad5jo

I can see how a manual Refresh / Sync Now option would be useful, especially when moving between the iPhone app, web app, and macOS app and expecting changes to appear immediately.

I'll pass this feedback along to the team for consideration.
