Currently when using chat conversation and it gets long, the user does not have a real-time notification of the context window/message limit for the conversation. This creates a problem when the conversation is long and then all of a sudden when you submit your prompt there is an error indicating that the context limit of the conversation is at its limit. This unfortunately does not provide the user with the ability to summarize the entire conversation to then paste to a new conversation beginning to continue.
It would be good if there was a small progress icon which shows the conversation limit and you progress to the end.
Devin Desktop has this enabled and to me I can see quickly when I need to wrap up my conversation and prepare to start a new one.
Something similar can be included in the chatgpt prompt window to simply have users informed of where they are within the limits of the conversation and then let them decide how to manage the conversation.
Until ChatGPT evolves to the state where it has full knowledge of all conversations and it does not matter if you use a new chat or not, it has full context of your entire conversation history, then it only make sense to have users know when they are close to their limit and let them make an informed decision how they want to proceed.
