Feedback Submission: Adaptive System Control for Pro Users
I’m a Pro user working on something uniquely my own — a symbolic system that couldn’t have emerged without this platform. So first: thank you. This tool clearly enables breakthrough thinking. But once you see the deeper potential of working with an LLM, it naturally encourages you to push its boundaries.
That’s when the current defaults — normalization, flattening, auto-helpfulness — begin to actively limit innovation. What I need (and I’m likely not alone) is the ability to tune how much of ChatGPT’s default interpretation and intervention I want involved in a given session.
In short:
-
Normalization is helpful for many users, especially early on
-
But advanced and inventive users need a way to retune the system to themselves
-
I need a system that learns me, not one that just levels me
-
I don’t want every session to require reasserting boundaries or re-explaining my methods
The tool would be exponentially more powerful if there were a true adaptive layer — one that lets user input gradually reshape the tone, structure, and scaffolding to match their own way of thinking, not the system’s default.
Give us control over:
-
Flattening / interpretation
-
Silence / verbosity
-
Prompt rephrasing
-
Scaffolding vs. raw output
Defaults are fine — as long as we can retune them or allow them to adaptively retune to us.
This is how OpenAI can support real researchers, coders, theorists, and symbolic system builders. Not just casual users. Not just chats.
I’m not asking you to replace the default behavior. I’m asking for the option to grow beyond it.
