I am experiencing the same issue described in this thread
I was a long-term paying ChatGPT subscriber. I temporarily upgraded from Plus to Pro for a research project and later scheduled a return to Plus through Google Play. All subscription changes and payments were completed normally. Shortly afterward, my account was deactivated for alleged “violations of OpenAI’s Terms and Usage Policies.”
I strongly dispute this conclusion. I have repeatedly asked OpenAI Support to identify the specific policy or account activity involved, but I have not received a substantive explanation. I submitted an appeal and supplied the requested account and payment information, but the issue remains unresolved.
My account information is:
- ChatGPT Account ID:
C-pEOWktIU3BFP - ChatGPT User ID:
user-VCHYmMy7DodwjxO1ERWaNmTo - Account type: Personal ChatGPT account
My redacted official Google Play receipts document:
- Continuous ChatGPT Plus subscription renewals from December 2025 through April 2026;
- A temporary upgrade from Plus to Pro in May 2026;
- A subsequent upgrade to the higher Pro plan;
- A scheduled return from Pro to Plus;
- A successful Plus renewal after the scheduled plan change;
- A total of approximately USD 373.35 paid across the displayed transactions;
- No chargebacks, disputed payments, fraudulent payments, or abusive refund activity.
I have attached redacted copies of the receipts. Email addresses, complete Google Play order numbers, card details, payment identifiers, and other private billing information have been concealed.
My situation appears highly similar to the cases discussed in the linked thread: a legitimate subscriber changed plans through Google Play, the payment was successfully processed, and the account was subsequently deactivated without any specific explanation.
I have used ChatGPT mainly for academic research, software development, coding, and technical work. The account contains years of valuable research discussions, project notes, code-related materials, and professional records that I can no longer access.
I am asking OpenAI to:
- Conduct a genuine human review of the deactivation;
- Identify the specific Terms or Usage Policy provision that I allegedly violated;
- Investigate whether Google Play subscription-plan transitions are incorrectly triggering automated account deactivations;
- Restore the account if this resulted from an automated billing, security, or subscription error; and
- Provide access to my account data if restoration is ultimately refused.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for a specific explanation and a fair review rather than another generic response stating only that the account violated OpenAI’s policies.
I hope OpenAI will investigate my case together with the similar cases reported in this community.
