Hello OpenAI Community,

I would like to report two serious accessibility problems I’ve experienced with ChatGPT and OpenAI’s account system.

**1. The disappearance of live speech-to-text transcription**

I am a disabled ChatGPT Plus user with a physical disability, and speech recognition is extremely important for how I use ChatGPT.

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a new feature in the ChatGPT iPad app. When I used dictation, my spoken words appeared on the screen in real time.

Initially, the feature had an icon that looked like a smiley symbol beside a large letter A. Later, the icon changed to something resembling arrows pointing towards each other, but the live transcription continued working.

On 18 October 2026, the feature disappeared completely.

This is a major accessibility problem for me.

When my words appeared live, I could immediately see if ChatGPT misunderstood something I said. I could repeat the word or correct myself without waiting until the recording finished.

Now I have lost that ability.

I am not referring to ChatGPT’s separate Voice conversation mode. I am talking about dictation while composing messages.

My ChatGPT app version is 1.2026.279.

I would like OpenAI to restore this feature and provide a permanent accessibility setting that allows users to turn live transcription on or off.

**2. Inaccessible account verification codes**

While trying to access this community, I experienced another accessibility problem.

The verification process appeared to give me only a few seconds to enter a code.

For someone with a physical disability, who may need extra time to operate a device, switch applications, read a verification code and enter it, this creates an unnecessary accessibility barrier.

Security is important, but accessibility should be equally important.

Verification systems should give disabled users sufficient time to complete the process and provide accessible alternatives where necessary.

**My request to OpenAI**

I would appreciate it if OpenAI’s accessibility and product teams could investigate both issues.

Accessibility features should not disappear without explanation, particularly when disabled users have come to rely on them.

I have already reported the live dictation issue to OpenAI Support under case number 17598700.

I hope OpenAI will take these concerns seriously and consider how these changes affect people with physical disabilities.

Thank you for reading.
