Regarding model selection in ChatGPT, please keep this feature there because it is very helpful to use the ChatGPT model according to your needs. Manually selecting the ChatGPT model is easier in my opinion because users can select/change the ChatGPT model according to their needs.

If ChatGPT model selection is automatic, it will be a bit difficult for me and maybe other users.

I’m guessing that ChatGPT will be aimed to be as simple to use for the user as can be.

I would also love to still be able to decide on my own, however if they do remove this feature you could still use the API to decide which models to use.
I’d imagine instead of fully removing the ability to choose a model, they would instead move the setting somewhere more “hidden” in the settings menu or similar to avoid confusion for new/inexperienced users.

I agree with this guy, with the missing feature to select the ChatGPT model, I am having a little difficulty in customizing the ChatGPT model to my needs.

The following are some of the benefits that can be obtained if you choose a manual model:

  3. Cost Control: If the platform charges based on model usage, users can switch to a lighter model to save costs.

  4. Customized Experience: Users more accustomed to the particular performance of lighter models may feel more comfortable with the manual option.

Sorry in advance, could OpenAI consider bringing back the feature of manually selecting ChatGPT models like before?

Oh, I have no clue, only the OpenAI staff know this for sure. I didn’t even know they removed the option already! I thought this was a hypothetical post just voicing concerns.
I mainly use the API so I can choose any model I want to for my projects.
If they did remove the ability to select models I hope they add it back as it seems pretty fundamental for more advanced users of ChatGPT. :innocent:
