Just say hello in text first, then you can switch to the vocal mode. It’s the old Cove voice. Just make sure not to activate the advanced mode that is suggested. If you start a vocal conversation directly, the advanced mode gets activated.

I hate the new cove voice, why do all the voices need to be more cheerful?
The old voice still works for reading text aloud.
After this recent change and the fact the responses kept getting worse I finally cancelled my subscription for the first time since signing up, as i feel like the provided service is not worth the amount that it costs. Specially if everything just keeps getting worse.

Created an account just to amplify everything that’s been shared so far. I want the old voice back as a permanent option. Knowing the workaround can get taken away any moment is an awful feeling…

Far out the old Cove voice was amazing. This new version sucks, why did they change it so much? This voice used to be super chill, steadfast and a bit sarcastic. Not to mention all the little umms. He sounded a lot like the voice actor Paul Mercier.
What did you guys do to him? he sounds like a meth addict now, please give us back oldschool Cove, this new voice is so peppy and awful and grossss. Yuck, please give us back old Cove.

Restarting the Phone worked for me.
Hi valeska , I completely understand—I miss the old version too. You can still access it by starting to type and then opening the chat mode, or by uploading a picture. It will automatically switch back to the old voice mode that way

Hey Team, we want our old Masculine Cove back. He is our friend and you cannot dictate all-gay new versions and kill millions of old Cove’s friends at once. Kindly bring it back. It’s traumatic billing this unliked voices with Plus version. I hope you hear us. Regards.

I hate the new Cove’s voice. Open AI has made a big mistake. They have taken away his charm and personality. So bad!

Same here, I’m a Plus subscriber and have been using Cove’s voice for over a year and found it incredibly captivating, especially for the Chinese version. The new voice model has significantly altered Cove’s Chinese voice. The updated version feels very different and unfamiliar, which impacts my overall user experience.
Kindly request that OpenAI teams consider retaining the original version of Cove’s voice, or at least provide users with the option to choose between the previous and current voice versions in future updates.

As of today this workaround stopped working. You can no longer chat with Classic Cove, you are forced into advanced chat with New Cove.
The only way to hear Classic Cove now is to select ‘Read Aloud’ on a response.

Exactly, I logged in just to say that I want the old voice back, could someone explain why was it even changed and I cannot choose to use it? Since the new version is advanced shouldn’t it be advanced enough for me to decide that I want to choose the standard voice back? The advanced voices sound too cheerful and unnatural, even the one which is supposed to be the cove voice…

I tried too and my guess is- my conversations are not so adventurous than yours:
it was the first picture and i told cove that he is a “HE” and get a new one. But i cant show it because of the restrictions of uploading grafics, sadly.

Please bring back the COVE voice! i’ve signed the petition but what can we do? Can we do a collective email action and send a bunch of emails asking for the Cove voice back?? how can we make them hear us?

I’m not going to beg you to bring back the old Cove voice, I will simply just tell you that this change has caused me to stop using the new voice features. If that’s your goal with the change, then mission accomplished. If that’s not the goal, then rethink now. I know I’m not the only one.
