A too-long conversation with Canvas (in Teams) gave overextended warning

I was in the middle of a long conversation with Canvas (on Teams) and during Canvas’s long answer, the conversation said it was overextended and shut off. Hours of valuable work was lost, and I’m being told it is not accessable-ever. I never received a time limit, warning, or anything. Canvas (ChatGPT) suggested this approach to solving a problem. Then used a long conversation to do it and stole all my data. Two days of work instantly disappeared, and I’m not able to see anything. The conversation is now blank. This is unacceptable.

So, a second conversation told me my data was never retrievable, but after this complaint post, I went back and it’s all visible again. I did have to try to type in the conversation screen before it appeared, but it did reappear. I’ll copy it and get it to safety.

A warning that conversation limits exist or are about to be reached would be a nice addition to the system. It would be even better if your Chat partner was aware of those limitations. Summarizing a conversation porting it to a new one is easy enough, but only if you are aware of the need before a compute/time crash.

By the way, regarding contacting ChatGPT support, the system doesn’t have any input options anymore. Chat on Teams platform gave me the link to post here instead. If anyone has the ability to forward this, I’d appreciate it.

Welcome to the forum!

While many might take what ChatGPT puts out as true and even more so with warnings and such, unless it is a popup on the screen consider it content generated by ChatGPT and a possible hallucination.

These sort of messages appear on this forum from time to time and they are just that, hallucinations, so don’t think the world has ended, it probably has not.
