A ChatGPT Family Plan Because AI Should Not Be a One User Wonder
Hey OpenAI team and fellow users
I would like to suggest a feature that I imagine many households have quietly wished for but not yet spoken up about. a Family Plan for ChatGPT.
Think of Spotify, Netflix, or Apple Music, but for our favourite virtual assistant.
Right now, a single ChatGPT Plus account offers brilliant features, but it is a bit like keeping a shared diary on the kitchen table. If more than one person logs in, everyone sees each other’s chats. Unless your household communicates entirely in cryptic code, that is not exactly ideal.
Picture this instead
- Multiple user profiles on one paid plan
- Each profile has its own chat history, preferences, pinned chats, and memory
- One simple billing arrangement for everyone
- Optional toggles for age filters or safe browsing if needed
We are not asking for anything overly complicated. Just a way to share the benefits of AI across a household while still giving each person their own space.
This could be a practical and popular win for everyone
- Users get convenience and privacy
- OpenAI adds value to the Plus plan while still keeping income steady
- AI becomes more suitable for everyday family use — imagine one parent planning meals while their child gets help with homework, without overlapping content
At the moment, sharing an account either risks privacy or goes against the spirit of the terms. A Family Plan gives people a clean, straightforward way to do it right.
And really, if ChatGPT can write poems, draft emails, solve maths problems and explain the plot of Hamlet in the voice of a pirate, surely it can cope with more than one login?
