A "good" way for ads in Codex

Hi everyone, im new here.

Just like you, i use codex and found the new Reset rate limit option. That by itself is wonderful and it instantly made me think: how can i “earn” more resets other than friend invites. Now before you go “no Ads”! please hear me out. Open ai wants to do ads at some point right, and i want more manual rate limit resets.

I would totally be clicking the reset rate limit button, then click earn more by watching ads, then after a couple of minutes of ads running on my screen i get a extra rate limit reset.

Open ai can ofcourse limit the amount of “ads earned” resets to like 2 a week. That would give me the possible reset they give out for free + the amount i can earn per week using the ads method.

This could serve both ways. Open ai can show ads in a non intrusive way to plus (and beyond) users, because the user chooses to view them for earning sakes. Open ai gets return on investment as they make real money for the ads shown. And it expands the usage of their product to those actively using codex.

This is the general concept i instantly realised after the manual tate limit reset option was introduced in codex. I know im just 1 person with a idea.

Normally i despise ads but i also realise that if i want to get more usage from the server farms of open ai, that paying + earning is best for my low income. As long as i get a choice in when those ads start to roll.

What do you think?

Thanks for the read.

Welcome to the forum!

No.

The goblins would prefer clearer plans, fairer limits, and paid capacity over ad-funded reset rituals.

From a technical standpoint, the key challenge would be maintaining fair usage isolation so that ad-earned resets don’t interfere with global quota enforcement or abuse prevention. You’d likely need a separate “credit ledger” layer that tracks earned resets independently from baseline rate limits, with strict caps and cooldown logic to prevent gaming the system.
