A few usability tweaks that could make the Mac ChatGPT app even better

Hi everyone,
I’ve been using ChatGPT for more than a year now, pretty much every day through the Mac app.
I just wanted to share a few small suggestions that might help improve the experience. Nothing critical, just things I’ve noticed over time that could make the app even more usable:

  1. When the sidebar is hidden, it would be nice if the chat name appeared at the top center of the window (so you always know which chat you’re in).
  2. Ability to rename a chat inside a Project, like you can do in the web version.
  3. It would be great if ChatGPT had awareness of the user’s local date and time, for better context.
  4. In the Customize area (when setting personal instructions), it would be useful to be able to upload files — similar to how you can with custom GPTs. Also, the text area in the form feels quite small.
  5. Ability to choose the model inside a Project — I’d like to be able to switch models within the same Project.
  6. Ability to mark a chat as “important” (or favorite/star it), to help avoid accidentally deleting valuable chats.

I’m sharing this here just in case someone from the OpenAI team is reading, these are minor quality of life ideas that could make the app even better.

Thanks,
Fab
