I would like to add an important extension to this request.
ChatGPT now already has Pets, including custom Pets. So rather than building a completely separate avatar system, I would love to see OpenAI connect the existing Pets feature to normal ChatGPT and Live Voice.
My specific use case is:
A custom Pet as the persistent visual representation of my ChatGPT assistant during normal Live Voice conversations on Android — without requiring ChatGPT Work.
The Pet should ideally:
- work in standard Chat as well as Work
- remain persistent across conversations
- appear during Live Voice
- support custom uploaded Pets
- animate while listening, thinking and speaking
- eventually support blinking, facial expressions, gestures and lip-sync
- be connected to the selected ChatGPT voice and personality
- work independently of Work usage limits
- be available on Android/iOS as well as web and desktop
The key point is that a personal assistant/avatar is fundamentally a personalization feature, not a Work feature.
Pets already provide much of the visual foundation. Extending them into normal Chat and Voice would create a consistent visual identity for ChatGPT across text, voice and Work.
