A better way to ask contextual questions

Feature Request: Inline Side-Chat for Explanations

Problem: When studying or coding in long chats, asking about a single confusing line, error, or concept in the same thread disrupts the main conversation and makes the chat cluttered.

Proposed Solution: Allow users to highlight text and open a temporary floating or side mini-chat for explanations, debugging, translation, or follow-up questions without affecting the main thread.

Benefits:

  • Keeps the main chat clean and focused

  • Improves study and coding workflows

  • Enables faster contextual learning

  • Reduces context disruption during long conversations

Optional: Allow users to send useful answers back into the main chat if needed.

Hey @sainiaadi310! This is a really neat idea, especially for long coding or study sessions where one small question can derail the main thread.

A couple of existing features can help a bit today: Conversation Branching lets you fork from a specific point, and Temporary Chats are useful for quick side questions you don’t want saved in your main history.

That said, what you’re suggesting feels smoother like highlighting something, opening a small side-chat right there, asking the follow-up, and keeping the main conversation clean. I can’t share a timeline right now, but I’ll pass this along internally as feedback.
