I’m based in Colombia, and I’d like to understand why the local pricing seems inconsistent between the $100 and $200 ChatGPT plans.
I previously subscribed to the $100 plan through Apple. I paid in Colombian pesos, and the amount was consistent with the equivalent of $100. However, when I tried to upgrade to the $200 plan, the checkout displayed COP 999,900—approximately $300 based on the exchange rate I checked.
If the $100 plan was priced at its equivalent in pesos, why doesn’t the $200 plan follow the same approach? I expected approximately twice the price of my $100 subscription.
I canceled my Apple subscription so I could subscribe directly through OpenAI, hoping this would resolve the discrepancy. However, OpenAI’s website shows the same COP 999,900 price.
The checkout does not show a separate tax amount explaining the difference. If taxes or other adjustments are included, please provide a transparent breakdown. If this is a fixed regional price, please explain why it differs so substantially from the advertised USD price.
I would like the option to pay the advertised $200 price directly in USD, with any applicable taxes clearly disclosed, and let my bank handle the currency conversion. Alternatively, the price in pesos should reasonably reflect the advertised dollar price, as it did with my $100 plan.
Could OpenAI explain this difference and offer a way to select USD billing? Has anyone else in Colombia experienced the same issue?
